Old City during the day is calm, often fluttered with tourists and for a great lunch a sidewalk cafe is always just steps away. Specialty stores and boutiques are praised for their sytle. At night , approaching the weekend it's a section of Philadelphia that lights up and promises to please with wonderful restaurants and array of night clubs. A particular attraction is First Friday's when Old City hosts gallery art showings at a number of galleries. There is something for everyone in Old City and it is an excelllent exploration into the birth of our country.

Old City (sometimes spelled "Olde City") is a neighborhood in Center City, Philadelphia located in the area near the Delaware River where William Penn and the Quakers first settled. To tourists, it is best known as the site of Elfreth's Alley, the Betsy Ross House, and many of Philadelphia's other historic sites.

Old City occupies several blocks between Front and Sixth Streets, bounded by Vine Street to the north and Walnut Street to the south. Home to many fashionable bars and restaurants, the neighborhood is a popular bohemian hangout. Among Old City's traditions is First Friday, a popular monthly event featuring "open houses" by many neighborhood art galleries.
